Authors Share their Bliss at EW Book & Poetry Night

The Book and Poetry Reading Social sponsored by the Parent Community Network was a fun time. We had a wonderful group of parents, community members and faculties attend. Our two authors Charles Kastner, an independent historian and JT Stewart a poet spoke about writing and read from their latest publications. We had a bountiful snack table to feast from as we mixed and mingled.

Our authors gave us much to reflect upon. Mr. Kastner spoke about following your bliss and that writer’s are born not made. He passionately shared his reasons why he wrote the Bunion Derby The 1928 Footrace Across America.

JT Stewart told us we are all writers. Our audience may be just ourselves through journaling or a larger venue found through publication. She spoke of how she writes to find peace in her life. In her latest work Promised Land: Poems from the sovereign of dishpan sonnets she writes about slavery and the many lands affected by its’ darkness.

April is poetry month, so try to read at least one poem this month. As always there is fantastic book waiting to be read so make time to take a mental journey.
